WHAT IS IT?

For those aspiring filmmakers or people just looking for a fun time, get ready for a weekend of competitive creation where you and your team have 48 hours to write, shoot, and edit a 4 to 7-minute short film!

For our second time, Katy ISD District-Wide Film Festival, Jordan High School and their Short Film Production Company (Film Head Productions) presents the Jordan 48-Hour Film Festival: Spooky Edition!

FILM REQUIERMENTS

ONE LINE

All teams will be given a specific line that they’ll have to incorporate into their film. The line will be determined at Kick-Off.

TWO GENRES

Each team will draw two genres from a hat. One will be a horror genre and the other is one the team has to pair with it. Both must be used.

ONE PROP

All teams will be given a specific prop that they’ll have to incorporate into their film. The prop will be determined at Kick-Off.

Rules for Forming Teams-

  • There is no limit on the number of people in a team. It can be 1 person or 10 people. Everyone just needs to be signed up.


  • Only the people who sign up can have an active role in the creation of the film. No outsourcing the editing or writing or anything to someone not on your team. (Just add them on).


  • One person must be assigned Team Leader. They will be responsible for all the forms and requirements.


  • Participants will form their own team.


  • Multiple teams can come from one school.


  • A single team does not have to be from the same school. Teams must have a majority of high school students, but they can allow adults and younger kids on their team.

RULES

Film Content-

  • Must be between 4 minutes and 7 minutes. Films that go ​over will be stopped. Films that are under will still be shown ​but will only be eligible for winning Audience’s Favorite.


  • Films do not need to have end credits, beginning credits, or ​a title card, especially if it would cause the film to go over ​the time limit. You just need your film.


  • Films must use their line, prop, and genres. All these have to ​be clearly and meaningfully used. They can’t be throw-away ​lines or props that don’t do anything for the film. The genre ​has to be the main genre.


  • The contents of the film must be school appropriate. No ​excessive or vulgar language, no excessive violence/gore, no ​adult content. (Could be disqualified from screening if rule is ​broken)

Film Submission

Use this link to submit your film. All films must be submitted by 7:00pm on October 13th.

Failure to submit by deadline will result in the film being ineligible for judging but will still be screened and voted on for audience’s favorite.
